Incident Report

I did not have any incidents / accidents do I still need to complete the incident report?

Yes, every crew entered in the event must fill in an incident report.

Note only one incident report per crew is required, it is not necessary for both driver and navigator to submit the form.

How long does a crew have to submit an incident report?

Crews have ONE HOUR from either finishing or retiring from the event to submit the Incident Report

If you are stuck in the field or retrieving your vehicle you can still submit online within the time limit

What happens if there is no signal where a competitor has broken down?

As soon as you reach an area where there is connectivity please complete the form.

I clicked on the link and opened the Incident Report page but it says the form is closed?

The online form is set to automatically close one hour after time bar for the event

Please see the Clerk of the Course to advise why you were unable to complete your form within the time limit

I did not finish Qualifying and did not start the main race, must I still complete the incident report?

Yes, any competitor who starts an event, i.e. starts Qualifying is required to complete the form.

Why is it so important to complete the Incident Report?

The Incident Report is your opportunity to advise the officials of any incidents or damage to crops or farm infrastructure such as gates or fences? This information is critical to the smooth running of events and to good relationships with the land owners who grant us the privilege of racing over their property. If a fence or gate is damaged we need to know this urgently to advise the land owner so that they do not put livestock back into that area and to arrange to repair the gate or fence. Without the support of our land owners we would not have anywhere to race and we ask that all competitors respect this and assist by completing the form and advising any damage soonest.

Do I have to fill out the Incident Report after Qualifying and again after the Main Race?

No, unless there is something you need to report such as an incident, accident or damage to farm infrastructure. You only need to complete the form once a day.

In case of the two-day marathon event you need to complete the form at the end of each day's racing.

What happens if I don't fill out the Incident Report within the time limit?

The Clerk of the Course is empowered to penalise you by imposing a R2 000 fine. If this fine is not paid to MSA within the first 48-hours then the fine is automatically doubled.

How will the Clerk of the Course determine what time I retired?

The Clerk of the Course will look at the time at which you stopped on the route or returned to DSP on the tracking system or from your GPS Track to determine the time you retired from the event.
